Story Behind the Shot – “Night on the Fjord”

“Night on the Fjord” – Southern Greenland

A richly colored evening on the Tasermiut fjord in southern Greenland, with a glacial river and mountains.
Sometimes you arrive at a location with a preconceived idea of what you want to shoot. One of the main reasons I went to Greenland was to shoot in areas that very few people have shot before (or been to, period), and therefore it was impossible to think about what or how I would be shooting. This location was like many in Greenland; full of opportunities, in multiple directions. This shot faces the fjord and opposite side’s peaks, and just a few yards behind me was where I took “A Brief Appearance.” There were so many areas like that, it was sometimes difficult to settle on a composition. Not complaining!
